Happy Birthday, Don!

Another fun birthday with the bouncy castle!
This was last sunday, 17th July 2011.
(Yes another late post, life at work has been rather hectic lately.)

Miss K had a mini-version of the bouncy castle at her 1st Birthday...then she was a little too young to appreciate the fun of jumping up and down...But of course, she has not even learnt how to walk yet then!

Am still contemplating whether to have a 2nd birthday party for her this year (and that will be only about a month away now!!) And if so, should we be getting a bouncy castle?

Look at how much fun she's having!

And....she was so in love with this Barney cake, she demands that I carry her, and stood in front of it until the whole cake was "dismantled" and served!

Looks like I might have to get started with some research on baking a Barney cake for her Birthday.

The things that parents do for their kids these days....immeasurable!

Singing Happy Birthday

Surprisingly, Miss K can sing the birthday song! I discovered this while we were singing in the car during the week. I guess she must had a few practice sessions at childcare (they sing happy birthday in all 4 languages at her childcare!)

So, when I told her its Ben Gorgor's Birthday on saturday, she has been happily singing "happy birthday to Ben Gorgor" since Friday night...We missed the party at Explorer Kids (our fault, was glad we did not tell the little one that we are going to a "big playground" for Ben's birthday as we were so busy with scheduling other things that afternoon or she might be thinking we lied to her!) but we managed to get to the party at night.

The first thing Miss K spotted as soon as we arrived at the party- The slide!

This is a daring Miss K climbing up the slide...

which is higher than my 1.65m height!

Yes, that's me, tip-toeing, grabbing tightly onto her, as she proudly stepped onto the slide on her first climb up the monkey bars!

The BBQ food was good, the fellowship with our cell group members was great! Unfortunately, I did not manage to snap a photo of the food. The highlight of the night was the "Angry Bird" themed Birthday cake.

This is Ben with his Angry Bird Birthday cake!

J managed to capture this shot with Ben's baby brother, Don. He's such a cutie! And Kate looks like a big sister here!

Happy 7th Birthday, BEN!

Cake Pops & Cupcakes

My newfound obsession or hobby rather, is baking.
I stumbled upon Bakerella's blog and that got me really inspired to try making Cake Pops.

Decided to make a small ensemble of cupcake and cake pops for a friend's birthday this Tuesday.

Here are a few of my creations.

Dark Choco Swirl, White Choc Heart Sprinkles & Dark Choc Mosaic Cake Pops

Mosaic Tree Cup-cake-pop

 Heart Sprinkles Cup-Cake-Pop

My first try at making cake pops and am glad both Miss K and J loved it!

GiGi is 6 years old today!

Our little Westie came into our lives 8 months after we got married. She was 3 months old.
A very lively (and at times hyper) pup who taught us much about responsibility.
Since the birth of Miss K, we have been neglecting her - so much so that she now has no more weekends at the dog run, no evening walks at the park and I cannot even remember when was the last time I played fetch with her around the house...

Last week, I told Miss K that we will bake a cake to celebrate GiGi's birthday, and so we did.
The little one is still nursing a cough and fever, but was in good spirits, and happily helped out.

Gigi is now on a strict vet-prescribed-diet as she has some skin allergies, so I ditched the idea of making dog cupcakes.

We made vanilla cupcakes with chocolate cream cheese frosting and mango centre.

Miss K have been 'practising' the Birthday song in childcare, so she was all excited when I lit the candle and told her that we will be singing happy birthday to Gigi, then we will blow out the candles together.

There wasn't any decent pictures of Gigi with the cake as Papa's travelling and Miss K did not know how to handle the dog nor the camera, so this is the best picture of the dog with the cake (with the two humans trying to get the dog within the frame for the camera at the background).

Gigi, we will bring you out for a nice outing this weekend when your master returns!
Happy 6th Birthday!

Delayed post - Birthday with "classmates"

Miss K celebrated her birthday with her friends at infant care on her Actual Birthday, i.e. 30th August 2010.
I was not allowed in as the centre was keeping a tight control over a suspected HFMD case.
Would like to thank Miss K's infant care teachers who made Miss K's 1st Birthday extra special (all decor, including head accessories provided by the centre! i was so not prepared!)
Thanks to Teacher Farinah who helped me snap a few shots of her birthday celebration:

Cupcakes and more...

Ardent fan of cupcakes...took much procrastination and self-convincing before I finally decided to try baking Miss K's birthday (cup)cake.
Was so glad it turned out well.
I love Glory's Blog on her cupcakes and I took the recipe of my cupcakes and frosting from her blogsite. Check out her beautiful cupcakes!

Here are some snapshots of my creation in-making:
And the end product doesn't look bad at all:

(N.B. first time using shape collage, still experimenting...)

It was really fun baking Miss K's 1st Birthday cake....brings back memories of when I was a little girl helping my mum bake birthday cakes for myself and my siblings - my mum bakes ALL our birthday cakes!
Thanks mum, you inspired me.

Little Princess is ONE Today!

I have accomplished my first 365 days 'mission' to be mummy to my little princess.
There were those initial struggles which all first time mums would (have) to go through; breastfeeding pains, post-natal depression, first teething pains,....but I survived!
Miss K has brought lots of sunshine to our lives. Her smile and mischievious demeanour never failed to brighten our day!
I'm definitely looking forward to the next stage of my motherhood journey.

28th August 2010, Saturday

It was a Princess themed birthday party...

To add to the list of achievements this year, I successfully baked Miss K's princess cupcakes and Birthday cake/cupcakes. It was my maiden attempt at decorating cupcakes and was glad it turned out alright.

Happy Birthday lil' one!

Another year gone by...

This Birthday will be somewhat different.
Hubby's travelling again; matter of fact, he just left for the airport,... on the eve of my brithday *sigh*. It will be the first birthday without him since i came to Singapore...
On a happier note, it will be my first birthday with my little princess!!! I feel so blessed.
Had my birthday lunch at Ikoi Jap restaurant at Miramar Hotel. We had the tatami seats, so Miss K had to sit at the tatami with us....not the best for babies I have to say!
Food was not bad...but having to entertain a fidgety baby who was not used to seating on a tatami was not fun!
(I have to add that a waitress called Helen was TERRIBLE! unfriendly and rude)

Tea at Max Brenner (vivocity) was a tad nicer as Miss K wanted her milky-milky so we put her in her stroller with her bottle, while we had our waffles and really rich chocolate drink. Although they do not have high chair for babies, the service staff there are really friendly.
Its really chocolate paradise, but we felt intoxicated with too much chocolate after that!...severely overdosed!
I'll visit again when i need my chocolate fix.
