Miss K's favourite book at 5 months old was Buzzy Bug. At 6 months, "Who lives in the rainforest" was added to the "favourite list".
At 8 months, Miss K lost interest in books... I guess this was when she started to crawl and explore other things in the house, which I guess is much more interesting!
And now at 11 months, she loves her nursery rhymes and the bilingual 'colour' books, especially RED.
I experienced the same thing with Bubbles! When she was younger, she would sit through me reading a whole stack of books! Later she would prefer to flip/bite the books herself or crawl/cruise away to other adventures. Now she also pays more attention when there are rhythmic sounds or rhymes to the reading :)
